About Me.

Hello!
My name is Michell, and I am the creator of The Anxious Passport.

I started this site to inspire others to travel and explore the world. While there’s nothing wrong with embracing a more settled lifestyle, I believe it’s incredibly important to step outside your comfort zone and experience the world around you.

Growing up, my dad had a huge influence on my way of thinking. He always encouraged me to explore, to never limit myself, and to see the world beyond my immediate surroundings. He believed that staying in one place, within the same group of people and lifestyle, meant missing out on so much—on potential, growth, and perspective. He often reminded me how valuable it is to meet people from different backgrounds, experience different cultures, and see life through different lenses. By doing so, we open our minds to new ideas, gain fresh perspectives, and ultimately become more well-rounded individuals.

I also believe that many mid-life crises stem from staying within our comfort zones for too long. At some point, people start to feel like they’ve missed out—on dreams, on goals, on opportunities to grow. Traveling is one of the most powerful ways to break free from this feeling. It challenges you, humbles you, and helps you appreciate both what you have and what you are capable of achieving. It allows you to reflect on whether you are truly happy with your life or if there is more out there waiting for you.

After all, we only have one life to live.

I also believe travel has the potential to help with mental health, particularly anxiety and depression. It pushes you beyond your limits, provides new perspectives, and sparks inspiration in ways few other things can.

The name The Anxious Passport came from my own personal struggles. I am far from the most confident person—I deal with anxiety in almost everything I do, from traveling to social situations. If there were a crown for being the most awkward, I’d probably win it! But despite my fears, I refuse to let them stop me from pushing forward.

Through The Anxious Passport, I hope to encourage others who may feel the same way. You don’t have to be fearless to explore the world—you just have to be willing to take the first step.
